Now We Wait…

And now we wait.

I walked the property with the surveyor on Tuesday, and today, Friday, we’ve put together an offer to present to the owner. We were hoping that the adjacent property (see the cool old barn? it’s on that property.) that’s owned by the same guy, would be tacked on for a reasonable bit more, but after initially being interested, he’s wanting well above what it’s worth, which we are not in a position to afford. But we’re asking for first right of refusal on the land should he change his mind in the future, giving us “dibs”, as it would really be the icing on the cake to have the old barn and would simply make the property lines less wonky to boot. Who knows, maybe he’ll sleep on it and change is mind, maybe we’ll get the property and next year he’ll want to offload it, maybe maybe maybe. But either way, we’ve put in an offer for the 4 acres that could be our home by summer…

We cross our fingers now, and see if this is where we are meant to begin.

Good luck!! I am seriously crossing my fingers for you guys, and hoping the old guy changes his mind! Is the property east of town, or is it in the Lewis and Clark area? Either way, it is so beautiful 🙂

Thank you! It’s in John Day. We were looking at another property in Lewis and Clark ( I absolutely adore that area) but it was really steep and we liked the rolling hills of this one a lot more.

John Day is awesome! My grandfather grew up on a farm out there. It’s all really nice land!

Thanks! Yeah it’s been an interesting search because there’s so much area but so much where I couldn’t get cell phone reception or the internet was limited to DSL, and for my business I need something stronger so we were definitely limited in the areas we were looking. And of course there will probably be way more options in a few months but our goal is to have a house built so we can move in by the end of Summer.

Oh, I hear you! We did not realize when we moved out to Brownsmead that the cell service and the internet options were so bad!

Yeah amen for our builder who is a Knappa native and told us to not bother going any further past John Day for what I needed to work from home!!
