Marionberries straight from the garden – YUM! With my back all fucked up I have to let my husband pick them – gotta admit I’m crazy jealous as I love doing this. 🙂
In our focus on continually adding something new to our knowledge base on Ethiopia, we got the beautiful cookbook of African soul food, The Soul of a New Cuisine, by Marcus Samuelsson. Born in Ethiopia and then adopted after his mother’s death and raised in Sweden, and now living and cooking at his restaurant in New York, everything in this cookbook is this delish cookbook of foods from a variety of African countries, but of course with extra focus on Ethiopia. I’m trying his Ethiopian-inspired version of BBQ Pork Ribs for our 4th of July backyard barbecue with my mom. Can’t wait!
Coneflowers (Echinacea) flourishing in the garden!! These ones are actually orangey in real life but the phone snapped them kinda pink but either way, I love ’em.
Our little gal snuggling up with my hubby 🙂
Headed out to the small town outside of Portland where I grew up so Dan could see the house I grew up in and we could have a visit with my mom. Stopped along the river where I used to hang out with friends on inner tubes in the summer and showed my honey and my pup a bit of my past. This is one of those few untouched areas since I was a kid 🙂 (image source)
