Birthday Getaway: Mt Hood

How strange that Nature does not knock, and yet does not intrude!
~Emily Dickinson

Well with all that has been going on in our lives, for my 42nd birthday coming up on Sunday, I just asked my husband if we could go out to the woods for some peace and quiet. So we found this great little log cabin in the Mount Hood National Forest, hidden away in the Rhododendron/ZigZag area, just before you get up to the higher (i.e. snowy-must-have-chains-which-we-don’t) elevations, and it couldn’t have been a better escape from the city. Taking advantage of my husband’s midweek days off, we enjoyed the isolation away from the rest of the world and it was so, so nice…
