The 31 Day Blog Challenge: Day 10 (The Physical)

My Best Physical Feature?

Well, my husband said the first thing he noticed were my eyes and my lips when he saw my blog’s profile picture back in 2011. When I was younger, I was always proud of my dancer’s legs, but with more curve than I care for these days, they are no longer my favorite. Isn’t it strange, the struggle to find one nice thing about ourselves. As for my husband’s thoughts, I think my eyes are OK but I hate the fact that I have stick-straight eyelashes (which back in the days of makeup never responded well to curlers or mascara). But I would say I do like my full lips. 🙂 And my hands aren’t bad either. I like my freckles that are amassed on my left arm from the olden days of driving my old Chevy S-10 pickup with the window down (while the right side remains much less populated to this day).  My face is still in great shape, as I’ve been wearing SPF-15 moisturizer on my skin since I was 21 years old (thank you, Elaine at Nordstrom for that advice!!) and have never ever ever used foundation. I never bought the line that covering your skin up with a layer of chemicals is somehow better for it than simple sun protection. And guess what? Folks still don’t think I’m in my 40’s 🙂 Not that I want to look younger, because I don’t want to be younger! I just want to take good care of myself without being bound by the cosmetics industry’s pressure on women that they aren’t beautiful unless they’re wearing makeup (or, the more underhanded comment “yourself, but better!” – UGH!).
