Civil Disobedience in Action – #ShellNo in Portland

“Protest beyond the law is not a departure from democracy; it is absolutely essential to it.”
~ Howard Zinn

It’s 101 degrees out as I write and our awesome Greenpeace activists are still hanging from the St. John’s Bridge in North Portland along with the Kayaktivists in the water, and have thus far kept the icebreaker from leaving Portland to devastate the Arctic with their drilling.

To read more:

I am proud of these activists and have made a donation to Greenpeace who a federal judge in Alaska (obviously owned by big oil) is trying to fine for every hour they try to block the ship.

This is the kind of civil disobedience that needs to happen, and I am so proud of them and the inspiration they give to me and all of the younger generation who don’t always get to see that we DO have a voice, we CAN make a difference.

The whole world is watching.

If you are against Shell in the Arctic, do not buy gas from them. Vote with your wallet.

This is too important for the health of our people and our planet.
