Took a much needed day off on Wednesday to rent a car and go out to the Sandy River Delta with the hubby and the pup. Down time and a sunny almost-spring day rocks, I tell ya.

Took a much needed day off midweek to go out to the Sandy River Delta with the hubby and the pup. Down time with my family and a sunny almost-spring day? Pure bliss.

Happy Spring everyone! The equinox arrives this weekend and we can finally celebrate the official start of spring! With the tulips and phlox in full bloom, and the dogwood and lilac trees budding happily, every time we walk outside there’s a new surprise it seems – isn’t it grand?!

So on that happy note, here are some cool things I want to share:

* Today is Meatout Day in Portland and even the mayor is in on going vegan for a day! And across the country, NYC has a pop-up vegan market that sounds pretty rad 🙂

* With exception of the English ivy recommendation, I love this Pinterest find on 41 Groundcovers to Know & Use!!

* Want to know why the last ice age happened? Click here to read more. Hee hee hee…

* We scored three gorgeous climbers at the nursery this week to go up the new fence wall on the north side of our property and found this OSU article on growing clematis to be very helpful!

* Fashion fights gender violence in India and WeVolve launches – March 17th was quite a day! “The premise of WEvolve is that young people – both men and women – can ‘evolve’ and develop new attitudes and behaviors and build healthy relationships that reduce the risk of gender violence.” Abso-frickin’-lutely.

And today’s favorite quote?

You can tell more about a person by what he says about others than you can by what others say about him.
