The Green Wedding Chronicles: Highlights of Our Big Day!

It was awesome, y’all. This is as best as I could narrow it down picture-wise…!

Waking up at Insomnia Coffee with the gang in Cannon Beach.

Getting ready with the help of a couple girlfriends...which for me meant a curling iron, putting on my dress and boots, and a bit o' lipstick.

Walking down the path at Oswald West State Park to meet Dan.
Walking down the path at Oswald West State Park to meet Dan, vows in my hand, loving the trees. (By the way, I ended up choosing this 50’s wiggle style knit purple dress by Laura Byrnes for Pinup Girl Clothing, made in the USA and incredibly comfortable – plus Dan said he wanted me to wear purple, so there ya go!)
Meeting Dan along the creek, just the two of us, then walking together to the ceremony site where our friends were waiting.

Arriving at the ceremony site, amongst the trees, past the creek and just before the shore, with just a few friends and a whole lot of greenery as witnesses.

Madly in love with this man and so emotional throughout the entire ceremony...
I was so emotional throughout the entire ceremony…listening to Dan speak words he has written for me has always touched my heart so deeply…
Rather than a ring exchange (we thought taking off and putting back on the same rings seemed a bit odd), we did a blessing of the hands to seal the vows.

Then of course it was sealed with a kiss (some traditions are worth keeping!)

Followed by happy hugs and congratulations received from everyone :)

Me 'n ' my girls! I am so grateful for their friendship and support throughout my relationship with Dan. They've been my rocks and I couldn't imagine getting married without them as my witnesses.

And we got seriously goofy - Dan doing his silly dance that always makes me bust up, us jumping over miniature streams to race towards the beach, doing our silly faces and poses (of which photos remain under lock and key!)...

Then onto brunch at Bread & Ocean in Manzanita. Our photographer decided to not stay for brunch so we only have a few photos from this but all I can say is that it was a gorgeous morning on a private patio with crepes, coffee, and good friends.

After brunch, we all drove home, then had everyone meet up at our house later in the afternoon, where we all walked from there to Woodlawn Coffee & Pastry, which we'd rented out for the evening.

Love that they greeted us with this on their chalkboard!!!

My wonderful friend Claudia started out the evening singing Otis Reddings' "That's How Strong My Love Is" acapella (Dan's request)...the lady does not disappoint...it was beautiful!

Did I mention there were ribs? Crown Q catered with ribs, pulled pork, collard greens, mac & cheese, and red beans & rice. Cravings = fulfilled!

But y'all I've got to say the best part of the night for me was giving my husband his wedding present - a serenade by my longtime friend, singer Shirley Nanette, who I first met 20+ years ago working for Nordstrom as her personal shopper. We tried to go see her a year ago when Dan was in from Oz and she was unfortunately in the hospital, so he'd always heard about her and wanted to hear her live someday. So she popped in and kissed him on the cheek before he even knew what was going on and proceeded to sing him "My Funny Valentine" and brought the house down, not to mention a tear or two to my honey's face. Best surprise I've ever kept!!

Getting a little time to eat and socialize with her, and have some friends meet her too was priceless. I always dreamed of having her sing someday at my wedding but never thought I could make it happen. Yay for love!

  2. These are SO lovely! I can’t believe I’m just now getting around to seeing them. I love your purple dress, the setting, and how simple everything is. Really lets the lovely shine through! Congrats again, and I can’t wait to give you a big celebratory hug.

  4. So incredibly HAPPY FOR YOU!!! And Dan!!! Wow, amazing. I thought of you a few days ago. I had forgotten your last name and the name of your blog. And then all of a sudden, it came back to me. I had deleted my blog some time ago but I wanted to look you up and see how life has faired for you. Looks like you are doing fabulous! Loved the wedding photos. I can’t even express how excited I am for you! I hope and pray your quiver is full of babies someday. Don’t give up. It’ll happen. By the way, my little Mini Me will be 6 this August, she is MY LIFE! She is the BEST thing that has ever happened in my life to date, I can’t ever imagine life without her. I’m so thankful for her. She is beautiful, loves art, dancing, self expression, she is so incredibly dramatic- the Apple didn’t fall far from the tree. 😉

I wish you the very best Aimee!

    1. Wow Genevieve so lovely to see your comment! My very very first blog follower!! Great to hear that things are going so well for her – do you have a new blog page for me to follow? Can’t really say the “don’t give up” to an infertile gal however…I have no eggs, my uterus is not implanting embryos, so this 4th attempt will be our last. Hopefully we’ll get a surprising yes, but we’ve got to protect our relationship and emotional health above all else, and if my body doesn’t want to do it, I’m not interested in being one of those women who goes bankrupt trying to make it happen. So cross your fingers and toes but please understand that it might not happen and we might need to end the chapter OK ? Wonderful to hear from you!
