4 Things I’m Grateful for Right Now

1) No more student loans. I’ve had the money in savings for a while to do this, but wanted to wait til I was a bit further along before I actually made the final payment…and it’s done! I’m still waiting for someone to tell me it was all a dream, but the zero balance shows – no more, no more! (source)
happy
2) My wonderful life.  In all it’s imperfections and lessons, I’ve made it this far and found through trial and error how beautiful it really is.  And on a spring day, riding over to meet a friend at Hair of the Dog after a client meeting, sipping a cider, and realizing how far I’ve come? Cool.
love.
3)  The man who’s got my heart. With him I am me. He sees all of me, I see all of him.  He’s kind and smart and strong and good. He’s my partner, my best friend, my family, my rock.
Springtime. Every year I fall more and more in love with watching the seasons. When I bought my house 7 years ago this May, there was a very tall stump with nothing growing out of it. Two years later it decided to grow again - and it turns out I had a massive lilac tree. This is what I love to go out and smell as I prepare my garden beds for next month's tomato plantings. This scented air and simple beauty is what gives me peace.

When I bought my house 7 years ago this May, there was a strange 10′ tall tree stump with nothing growing out of it in my back yard. Two years later it decided to grow again – and it turns out I had a massive lilac tree. As I prepare my garden beds for next month’s tomato plantings, the scent of the lilacs and their simple beauty are what give me peace and the knowledge that things will always continue to grow.

  1. Oh CONGRATULATIONS on paying off your student loan debt! That is definitely something worth celebrating! I can’t wait until I am announcing that one day. Sniff those lilacs extra good for me once would ya? Ours here are still just buds.

    1. Ahh but I disagree with happiness being rare! I think we often forget to be grateful and once we begin to count up the small things we will often see the good in our lives rather than focusing on what’s imperfect.

  2. I’m just grinning ear to ear reading this! Love it! All of it! Especially the lilac growing back. I’m currently having a love affair with any lilac that I cross paths with. So happy that you are so happy!
